KITS™ 4.12 on Windows 7

As of May 2009, Windows 7 is at Release Candidate Stage. This is our preliminary finding, which may be subject to change.

General Requirements:

• KITS 4.12 works in Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise, via the built-in Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine, which has USB support. All following comments refer to the Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine.
• The computer must support hardware virtualization using either Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) for Intel chips or AMD-V for AMD chips, Both Intel and AMD have utilities you can download that will let you know if your PC has that support. You can use either the AMD Virtualization Compatibility Check Utility (which checks whether your processor supports AMD-V) or the Intel Processor Identification Utility (which is a more comprehensive checking tool).
• Microsoft  Office XP / 2003 / 2007 (or install one-click download only without this).
• Instrument Firmware V5 and above. Older versions may work but are unsupported.
• Instrument with a USB (RS232 interface status is unknown. feedback would be welcome).
• KITS support for non-English language environments is as follows:
  English language installations of Microsoft Office require a relevant language Microsoft Office MUI (Multilingual User Interface) to run in another language.
  Non-English language installations of Microsoft Office require an English language Microsoft Office MUI.

We are currently working on a version of KITS with full Windows 7 compatibility.
