FTTx Industry Applications
FTTx installations include a wide range of technologies such as BPON, GPON, EPON and also a number of point to point (often Ethernet) solutions for business and other applications. Common factors are the need for low overall project cost and ease of large scale deployment using relatively low skill labor.

White Paper on FTTX PON testing.
-
Perform end to end cable attenuation and ORL certification with the KI 734x Two-Way LTS. This highly automated solution works on all network types. On a PON it requires only one low skill operator to measure bi-directional loss and the ORL each end in a few seconds, and then place the results directly into a customized KITS™ report. These can also be used for basic continuity testing, and as a precision power meter. This is the industry's fastest and easiest solution, available with a choice of up to 4 CWDM lasers on request.
-
For basic cable acceptance testing, continuity testing or optical power measurements, we have a simple Source & Power meter. These incorporate automation to make them easy to use, and many other useful features such as traceable calibration, interchangeable connectors, very long battery life and more, at an affordable price.
-
Alternatively Basic Loss Test Sets perform a similar function to a source and meter, but with less equipment inventory. These are available with up to 4 CWDM lasers, and come with KITS™ reporting software.
-
To measure the power level from a working PON, a Wavelength Selective Meter, is used to measure the power in just one CWDM band: please enquire for your needs, two wavelength unit also available. Low cost solution ideal for service turn-up.
-
For general fiber identification, continuity testing and fault finding we have excellent Visible fault locators and Clip on Identifiers.
-
To ensure that optical connectors are clean and in good condition, everyone should have a connector inspection microscope.
-
To accurately pinpoint optical cable faults, the Cold Clamp is a unique and practical solution.
-
KITS™ software is the flexible way to perform your customer acceptance reporting. Data logging also helps to track down intermittent faults. This software has password enabled direct data entry, so you can keep on using your legacy gear.
These instruments feature interchangeable connector adaptors for all modern 2.5 mm and 1.25 mm ferrule connectors including SC, LC, FC, MU, ST, LSA, E2000, LX5, F3000.
All KI 7000 and KI 3000 instruments feature Autotest compatibility, so your entire inventory of handheld instruments can have compatible automation features for all field staff.
Kingfisher's Optical Calibration Laboratory offers the highest level of calibration traceability in the industry. This is typically an important issue to give your customers the highest confidence in your products and services.
