CWDM / DWDM Industry Applications
DWDM applications are commonly characterized by operating at the C, L & S bands with sometimes very high optical power levels and often over long distances. The application requires low levels of back reflection, and adjustment of multiple attenuator pads to optimize amplifier and receiver operation. LAN DWDM / CWDM solutions typically operate at much lower power levels. Our instruments offer power measurement options up to +27 dBm, along with traceable CWDM calibration.
CWDM applications are commonly characterized by operating over nominally 1270 - 1610 nm with channels at 20 nm intervals, with mnedium to moderately high optical power levels and more often over short to intermediate distances. An FTTx PON is a specific CWDM solution, usually using bi-directional communcaiton over one fiber, and so may require low levels of back reflection. Our instruments offer power measurement options up to +27 dBm, along with traceable CWDM calibration.
-
For measuring signal levels, Power meters are available with a variety of suitable detector options up to +27 dBm with CWDM calibrations, with a range of other features. Some of these are available with a built-in visible fault locator, and can be used with KITS™ reporting software.
-
For basic cable acceptance, continuity testing or optical power measurements, we have a simple Source & Power meter. These incorporate automation to make them easy to use, and have many other useful features such as traceable calibration, interchangeable connectors, very long battery life and more, at an affordable price.
-
Alternatively Basic Loss Test Sets perform a similar function to a source and meter, but with less equipment inventory. These are available with up to 4 CWDM lasers, and come with KITS™ reporting software.
-
Measure cable loss much faster and more easily with a Two Way Loss Test Set + ORL. This is the preferred solution when labor cost or skill is a major consideration. Integrated Optical Return Loss measurement requires no extra test effort. These come with KITS™ reporting software, and can also be used for basic continuity testing, or as a precision power meter.
-
For setting attenuator pads and performing margin testing, our Automated Attenuator comes with free external control software. High end specifications highly suitable for this application include accurate port-to-port insertion loss calibration, high power handling, low ORL, low wavelength dependency and ease of use.
-
For general fiber identification, continuity testing and fault finding we have excellent Visible fault locators and Clip on Identifiers.
-
To ensure that optical connectors are clean and in good condition, everyone should have a connector inspection microscope.
-
Talk Sets offer high operational reliability and long range. All units work with each other, no messy A/B matching issues.
-
To accurately pinpoint optical cable faults, the Cold Clamp is a unique solution.
-
KITS™ software is the flexible way to perform your customer acceptance reporting. Data logging also helps to track down intermittent faults. This software has password enabled direct data entry, so you can keep on using your legacy gear.
Instruments feature interchangeable connector adaptors for all modern 2.5 mm and 1.25 mm ferrule connectors including SC, LC, FC, MU, ST, LSA, E2000, LX5, F3000, SMA, and universal connectors.
All KI 7000 and KI 3000 instruments feature Autotest compatibility, so your entire inventory of handheld instruments can have compatible automation features for all field staff.
Kingfisher's Optical Calibration Laboratory offers the highest level of calibration traceability in the industry. This is typically an important issue to give your customers the highest confidence in your products and services.
